.NET or Script based
TradePoint comes in two flavours: a .NET version and a script based version, named Classic. This gives you as partner great opportunities, as you can choose the technology your developer team is most confident with.
TradePoint Classic
TradePoint classic was introduced to the market in 2002 and has since then evolved into a mature product with a huge customer base.
Development is done in the web based tools using jscript. Although similar to ASP programming, the ScriptServer context and objects empowers developers to quickly construct advanced solutions that support security, localization and content management.
TradePoint .NET
With its introduction in Q1 2007, TradePoint.NET does not as many installations as Classic, but it is growing steadily as some partners switch platform and new partners are attracted by the .NET technology.
Development is done in MS Visual Studio using the standard .NET technology of your choice. With the powerful ScriptServer framework developers enjoy robust ERP integration and potent content management features.
Where to go?
Both products have just about the same features so the choice is a pure technological one. While the nature of a script based platform such as Classic is faster to customize, .NET offers greater integration possibilities and a robustness exceeding the Classic platform.
